The Law of Attraction and Creating Your Own Reality
The law of attraction is about becoming more conscious of the intentions you are broadcasting through your thoughts, words, and daydreams. People who have figured this out are tremendously successful in life. You'd be surprised at some of the people who have been working with the law of attraction (although they might not call it that) for their whole careers!
Actor Jim Carrey, who now earns over 20 million dollars per movie, was a struggling young comedian not long ago. At one point in his career he got in the habit of heading out to the beach, gazing out toward the horizon, and imagining where he wanted to be in his career. He had been working at comedy clubs and just scraping by. He saw that this lifestyle was limiting, and he wanted to express his talents in a broader medium. So he envisioned himself becoming a movie star.
He didn’t just visualize this once in a while. He got in the habit of doing it every day. He would fantasize about casting directors falling over themselves at the chance of casting him in their projects. He saw professional accolades piling up. And most importantly, he saw himself making millions of dollars doing what he loved most. He took this last part of the vision to a higher degree. He wrote himself a check dated a few years in the future for ten million dollars. He promised himself that by that date he would be worth that amount of money and that the check would become real.
His vision became reality a few years later when his Ace Ventura, Pet Detective character, which he had played in a prior movie, was suddenly written into a sequel. His salary for the movie? Ten million dollars.
This sort of success story is far from uncommon. If you’ve enjoyed reading the comics in your daily newspaper, you’ve run across the cartoon Dilbert. Dilbert is about a harried computer programmer and his talking dog, Dogbert. These characters now appear everywhere, in books, calendars, and toy stores. But there was a time when Scott Adams, the creator of these characters, was getting turned down by every cartoon syndicate that he contacted. He never gave up on the dream he’d been having since he was a little boy. He told himself over and over again, daily, that he was becoming a world famous cartoonist.
In the meantime, Adams honed his craft and tried not to let all of the rejections that he was receiving discourage him too much. Eventually his persistence – and his clear intention that he would make it – paid off. These days Scott Adams, like Jim Carrey, is an extremely wealthy man who gets paid well to do what he loves most.
Why shouldn’t we all be doing what we love most for a living and getting paid well to do it? These capacities exist within us all. Entrepreneur types (myself included) have long found that the amount of money coming into their business, the flow of energy of their career, seems directly tied to their personal output of positive thought and positive attitude.
So don’t be afraid to put creative visualization, affirmations, and the law of attraction to work for you. You can use them in every area of your life – to attract a soulmate who will really be on your “wavelength,” to magnetize career opportunities or greater money flow, or even to open up to greater feelings of health and personal well-being. All of these things are within your reach, if you dare to step into your power as a crafter of reality.
